Customised solution for Railway black box
The HFC-3W/O DC/DC converter was selected for its superior isolation and integrated cooling plate. This converter serves as a prime example of how DC/DC converters can be tailored to meet bespoke application requirements.
To align with updated standards and evolving requirements, Autronic collaborated closely with the client to ensure all specifications were met.
Application: The converter is designed for black boxes that record information under extreme operating temperatures, particularly for use in overseas applications.
Key Features:
- Wide Input Range: The converter supports an ultrawide input range from 14.4 to 154 VDC, suitable for all standard nominal input voltages as per EN 50155.
- Enhanced Protection: An RIA 12 filter allows the converter to endure high voltages (waveform A to G) without damage or operational interruption. Additionally, it offers increased surge protection according to IEEE 1482.1, handling up to 80 J of source energy.
- Output & Stability: It delivers a total output power of 43W, distributed over three outputs (5.1, 12, and -12 VDC). In the event of input voltage failure, the outputs continue functioning for up to 20 ms, allowing for safe system shutdown and data preservation.
- Robust Performance: The converter is capable of operating in extreme conditions, with temperatures as low as -55°C, meeting EN 50155 Class TX standards. It can also sustain continuous function in environments up to 70°C and briefly (up to 10 minutes) at 85°C without derating. This performance is achieved through a custom design focused on minimizing thermal load, ensuring a maximum temperature delta of 15°C between hot spots and ambient conditions.
- Traceability & Customization: Autronic provides full traceability of components, and customization options include customer-specific identification. This ensures clear allocation of each power supply and supports the traceability of components during production.
- Fire Safety & Reliability: Compliance with fire protection standards (NF F and EN 45545-2) is assured. The converter’s reliability is rated over 1.1 million hours under IEC 62380 standards at 60°C.
