Enhancing Security: How Display Technology Protects Sensitive Applications with EMI Shielding
In today's interconnected world, sensitive industries like medical, safety engineering, and aerospace are under the watchful eye of stringent regulations, particularly when it comes to electromagnetic interference (EMI). Ensuring the reliability and security of electronic devices in these sectors is paramount, and one crucial element in achieving this is EMI shielding. At FORTEC UK, we're at the forefront of utilising advanced display technology to safeguard sensitive applications against EMI, offering unparalleled protection and performance.
The Crucial Role of EMI Shielding
Electromagnetic interference, or EMI, refers to the unwanted electromagnetic radiation that can disrupt the functioning of electronic devices or compromise sensitive data. In industries where human lives or critical missions are at stake, such as medical, safety engineering, and aerospace, EMI can have dire consequences.
That's why EMI shielding has become an indispensable part of the design and manufacturing process for electronic components, including TFT displays. Shielding technology acts as a protective barrier, preventing electromagnetic emissions from escaping the device and shielding it from external interference.
Transparent EMI Glass with ITO Technology
One of the innovative solutions we employ at FORTEC UK to ensure EMI compliance is the use of transparent EMI glass with Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) technology. This high-performance glass combines transparency with exceptional EMI shielding capabilities. Here's how it works:
-
Transparent: The EMI glass maintains the transparency necessary for displays, ensuring that visuals are not compromised. This is crucial in applications where clarity is essential.
-
ITO Technology: ITO is a highly conductive material that is transparent. It's applied to the glass surface and helps to disperse electromagnetic interference while allowing light to pass through, preserving the display's visibility.
Copper Mesh with Exceptional Transmission
In addition to transparent EMI glass, we also employ copper mesh with a minimum transmission rate of 90%. Copper is an excellent conductor of electricity and is highly effective in blocking electromagnetic interference. By using copper mesh, we maintain the performance of our TFT displays while upholding EMI shielding standards.
Silver-Coated Frame for Grounding
To complete the EMI shielding circuit, a silver-coated frame surrounds the EMI glass. This frame serves as a grounding mechanism via the TFT display bezel. Grounding is a critical component in EMI shielding, as it helps dissipate unwanted electromagnetic energy and ensures that the interference is effectively neutralised.
